Unique Ideas On Contemporary Art Displays

By Gregory Nelson

You have probably seen numerous interior design magazines where pictures and art are placed in the kitchen, whether hung on the wall or otherwise. Though putting artwork in the kitchen may have its disadvantages; to do with grease and oil damaging and dirtying your artwork pieces, you can still undertake some simple steps to make sure that your pictures will last well into the future while at the same time creating some interest in the kitchen. Here are the pointers in kitchen Contemporary Art Displays.

Maintenance is the key to longevity. It is important that you take measures to properly maintain the artwork displays. This will include dusting and cleaning with a cloth to remove all the dirt and grease that may have accumulated on the frame or the Plexiglas. Clean the artwork-pieces regularly, about once a week. Otherwise, it'll be difficult to get rid of the oil and grease after some time.

Lean it against a side table; Find furniture in your house that you can lean your framed artwork piece on the side. For example, if you have a small side table adjacent to your sofa in the living room, you can easily prop an artwork piece against it. Just ensure that the frame is not taller than the table itself. Else, it'll look odd.

The artwork piece should be typically about three quarters the length of the table. Ensure also, that the artwork display is noticeable, that people can see it and appreciate it. Don't let the artwork face some corner of the room, where no one can see it.

Having a strategic position is quite important. For instance, when hanging artwork on the wall behind a dining table, hang the artwork pieces between the chairs at the dining table. This will ensure that people sitting down will not be blocking the artwork pieces behind them. Also, create a little space between the wall where the artwork is displayed and the dining table, if space permits of course.

Also, it is appropriate to avoid a table with a slippery surface as this could potentially result in the painting falling off or being knocked over leading to irreparable damage. You don't have to limit yourself to just one artwork piece. If the table is long enough, you can use two or three artwork pieces, leaning on top of the other, with the largest piece at the back and the smallest at the front. When resting a piece of artwork against another, make sure the overlap does not cover the artwork work of the back piece.

The better approach is to arrange three or four small pictures and group them. Because people looking at the artwork will be seeing it from a close distance, select pictures that have detail in them - an example would be flowers where the intricate details of its petals can be seen. Small pictures with detail are much more appreciated when a viewer is seeing it from a short distance away, like from a dining table.

Select a suitable theme. The selection depends on the theme and the mood of your decor. Assuming you have chosen a modern contemporary setting for your home, suitable artwork pieces you can use for your kitchen or dining area could be food related. Pictures of fruits or vegetables hanging on the wall would surely whet the appetites of diners.
