Methods For Utilizing Alcohol Ink On Glass

By Shirley Burns

Using inks is a fun way of painting and creating beautiful art. This can be done on metal and glasses. The liquid is highly pigmented, acid-free and fast drying. It should be used on non-absorbent surfaces. You can mix colors and apply them to create a vibrant effect. Below are some of the ways in which you can use alcohol ink on glass to create beautiful art.

There are certain items you require to make your project easy. You will require various inks. There are very many pigments and blends available in the market. Most of the dealers sell them in packs of three varying blends. Using them all enables you to get beautiful results. If you are experimenting for the first time, consider acquiring a pack rather than single colors. You will get beautiful results and also save on cash.

You will need a blending solution. Its work is to lighten and dilute inks. This liquid may be used to enhance your project and also clean up the mess when you are through. It cleans inks off your hands, surfaces, and tools. You will also require an applicator. This enables you to mix colors and apply them on glasses without creating a mess. If you cannot afford an applicator, wear gloves before application to avoid staining your hands.

You will need a working surface. It needs to be non-absorbent and flat for you to easily do the project. Some of the good surfaces include metal, ceramic and gloss paper. You should also utilize a clear sealer so that the colors cannot fade or wipe off. Use two or three thin coats so that you coat your project.

There are certain methods that can be used in applying the inks. This can be a direct application to surfaces or the use of a marker that ensures a direct application. A felt applicator allows you to start by creating a background, applying the bending solution and then the liquid directly.

When you apply it directly, you get control of where you want the colors to go and the amounts that should be utilized. Use the tip of the applicator in blending the inks to create a colorful mixture. The medium can also be placed onto the glasses and then pressed into the liquid for creating different decorations. The liquid can also be dissolved in water and then the glassware immersed to come up with a unique look.

Do not start with many projects at a go. The projects you work on when it comes to painting will provide you with good results when you start with the simple tasks. With time, you can be able to better your skills and can move on to complicated glassware. If you are not happy about a particular outcome, use a blending solution that can clean it off before you start again.

Ensure that the glasses you want to work on is ready. You may get poor results if you apply the inks on a dirty glassware. Clean well the glassware, remove any label and dry it prior to painting. These types of solutions can be utilized for a very long time before you run out of it.
