By Stephen Foster

People like to be entertained and that is why entertainment is big business. It comes in many forms from costume parties, carnivals, concerts, sports, and car races. One of the oldest and endearing forms of entertainment is songs. Whether as individuals or a group, the sweet sound of a human voice accompanied by a musical ensemble rejuvenates the spirit. Recalling one great balladeers who graced the music scene is a special event called bay area Elvis tribute.

Die hard fanatics or fans regularly follow their own self elected super idol in both the movie and music entertainment industry. They collect memorabilia, record albums, photographs, and other items directly related to their specific idol. One character entered the music scene and became one of its biggest stars. He has been deceased for quite a long time but still has a large fan base.

Many a big company or association pay homage to people who have made their mark in the industry. This is so true in any sector, be it in business, politics, entertainment, and others. It is given in honor of the accomplishments of recipients during their heyday. They sponsor shows that can last for a week and that is eagerly participated by adoring fans.

These memorable occasions need very astute planning in terms of what activities to come up with that will form part of week-long celebrations. Variety shows are almost always included in this type of event. These are usually carefully timed series of performances. There could even be stalls that will be selling tokens and items that celebrate the icon.

The sponsor or the organizing committee to be exact will be hard pressed to look for talents whom they will hire for the event. Depending on the activities that will be lined up, individuals and groups most likely are also fans themselves and would gladly share their talents in honor of the greatest rock and roll star the entertainment industry has ever produced.

The introduction often is a short history of this man himself, shown in stills and movie clips along with commentary from a prerecorded scoring or from a live emcee. This may include a full length motion picture of his concerts made in the past. It sometimes is replayed over and over again for the duration of an event and will serve to attract more participants.

Another activity would be to bring in impersonators. These performers can imitate the moves, the dress up, the manner of speaking and render his most popular songs. It can also be a contest among the audience as to who can impersonate the character best. Winners are given prizes in cash, goods, movie or concert tickets, or a memorabilia of the star.

The event itself will see the active participation of the sponsoring entities. They are mostly identified with great banners having their names on it which is really a good way of advertising their company and their products. Brochures and posters have their names on it. The sponsors will make sure that no untoward incidents will happen during the event so as not to sully their reputation.

Nostalgia is fun. It tickles the heart and the spirit. Reminiscing about the good old days is something most people can relate to. No more can this be captivating than in shows paying tribute to well known artists who have made their indelible mark on the industry. This music icon has a very large fan base and the voice that carried the music still reverberate today, even among the younger generation.
