Common Drawbacks When Using Wireless Mics

By Diane Ward

Events and programs are made better if everyone can hear what is going on. Sometimes, if people at the back portion of the hall could no longer hear what the artist or host is taking, they tend to feel outcast and they easily get distracted which is why they no longer pay attention on the event they have been attending on. Indeed, the use of microphone on such situation is a life saver as it can help one be more engaging towards all people who are in the venue. There are many sound systems that has been invented overtime which are being used in services like wireless microphone rental.

These types are known to be the latest ones in terms of this device. Its invention was merely based on the limitation of most wired mics there is. Indeed, it has proven its efficiency to the users of the device but then, it could not be helped that there can also be few drawbacks to work on with when using this.

Starting with the most common purpose and advantage of the wireless mic. Using it can typically allow unbothered movements of hosts or performers. It is really efficient especially if one needs to do gestures while they are holding the mic or of there is a need to dance and move along the beat.

When they use the wired ones on scenario like this, common result would be stumbling and tripping over the cables along with the mic. Notice how most cable are subjected to a mess and tangling which can be really annoying to begin with.

With regards the drawbacks, most of which has something to do with its limitation as well. For example, the range it is capable of supporting will be limited. Yes, you can move anywhere but there is no guarantee it would still work if you reach certain distance. Though, this will mostly depend on the brand.

That also makes bigger possibility of interference towards other equipment that is subjected with signals such as radio microphones. Though, there are newer models that actually can go against interference and is worth their price in terms of rental. You will just have to find it somewhere or have a little research to look for such mics.

Some wireless microphone are battery supported and this is one of the biggest drawback as it can be considered as a limitation. Once the battery died then the mic could no longer operate unless there are new batteries to be put on. And that can be a little inconvenient especially if the event is really important and time bound.

Next drawback is when the device is run by batteries. This has a strong tendency of dying on the middle of the event even if you have charged it beforehand. This can cause a little delay once and if the event is actually time bound and you would not appreciate that.

Furthermore, because there is a radio channeling that would happen to make things work, chances are some mics that also are wireless may not be used on the same area because of limited channel. Unlike wired, you can use up to how many mics you want to use on the event. But then, knowing the technology there could be brands out there who were able to actually fix such issues. Just ensure research before actually renting a system.
