Exploring The Work Of A Voiceover Artist Atlanta

By Larry Harris

When seeking work in film, television or radio, there are a number of opportunities. One of these opportunities includes working as a Voiceover Artist Atlanta. If interested in this type of work, there are websites such as Voices dot com and others which provide listings for job seekers and hiring agencies.

While often known as an off-stage art form when it comes to acting, voiceover artists most always work behind the scene. For, most often these individuals are reading directly from a script which will be added to the production at a later date. Whereas, there are some live voiceover artist which providing services during the actual filming of a movie or television show.

Over the last few decades, new opportunities have opened up in the communications and video gaming industry. For, a number of companies now use on-hold messaging which has been prerecorded. Whereas, game developers often use voice over talent to add realistic aspects such as voices to characters and avatars in video games.

Currently, most announcements and information provided to attendees at sports events or tourist attractions have also bee recorded using this type of talent. Whereas, voiceovers have been a part of award shows for quite some time, especially during the memorial videos at the annual Emmy and Oscar ceremonies. As such, there are a number of different areas in which these individuals have provided such talent.

While voiceover work is prominent in the film and television industry, voice acting should not be confused with film captioning or dubbing. For, in captioning a text block is provided in different languages from the original sound track. Whereas, while dubbing is actually a form of voice acting, it is often at the bottom of the list when it comes to work preferred by these voice artists.

Another area in which these individuals work is in narrating different projects, most often for animated tales in film, television or short films. While this is the case, there can often be additional storytelling laid over the narrated dialogue to provide a stronger sense of action. When it comes to narration, most often individuals are reading from a script or existing novel on which the project is being based.

Claymation and animation are often some of the most preferred work of voice actors. For, providing a personality to an animated or Claymation character can often be fun and exciting. Some of the most well known artists having worked in this area include June Foray, Mel Blanc, Paul Frees, Daws Butler and Don Messick. Whereas, there are also jobs available when it comes to giving puppets a voice such as in the work of Jim Henson and the Muppets.

In the past, there was controversy related to voice actors adding a voice to characters of different races. More recently, much of the controversy has been squelched by the hiring of more diverse artists. While this is the case, if there are no voiceover artists available to voice a character of a different ethnicity, then most often those spots are filled with individuals whom are at least fluent in the native language of the country.
