HD Tivo Information

By Troy Jones

Have you ever encountered the term Tivo through someone else and didn't know what it meant? HD Tivo is actually a high definition video recorder, which has the capacity to record TV shows and store it for future viewing. The next time you hear someone say they are going to Tivo something, you know that they just want to record that program and watch it at their convenience.

You can operate and use an HD Tivo unit just like you would a VCR. The HD Tivo is far more modern, though. This unit is not only beneficial for recording, however, as it is also capable of pausing and/or rewinding a program already in progress. This gives you an advantage when you have to leave the room for a few minutes, because you can pause the show and continue it when you return. The convenience of HD Tivo is unmistakable, which is why many entertainment buffs own this new video recording equipment and wouldn't think of turning on their TV without it.

You can even program some HD Tivo units to record specific programs based on the title, actor, genre, schedule, etc. You can get this depending on your location and service, but it's really great to have.

Well-known manufacturers produce HD Tivo products. You have to subscribe a monthly service costing about 15 dollars a month to be able to use Tivo. Lifetime subscriptions were discontinued, and Tivo currently offers prepaid subscriptions with a free unit.

You should read and understand the service contract when you subscribe to HD Tivo. The monthly costs, service and cancellation policies should be clearly outlined in any contract. Before signing the contract or handing out your payment, you should be sure that you have no further questions or clarifications. Most prepaid service plans don't give refunds if cancellation occurs during the time. It's still a good idea to talk about this with a Tivo expert. You'll receive the Tivo unit upon subscription, along with an owner's manual and operation instructions. It'll take some adjustment on your part to get used to the new technology. By carefully reading the manual and paying close attention to the instructions of the representative, you should be able to Tivo in no time.
