Check if the eyes look alive and if the ears have been set right. The nose is another area of concern. You should also check if the mouth and the area around it looks natural. Compare the work of several of your candidates.

These guys have to be very familiar with the anatomy of the animal. They will also need to know about the various methods and materials used to preserve the condition of the animal. They will need training to be able to do this really well. Ask your candidate where he trained and determine how many years he has been doing this kind of work.

Though a reasonable price is certainly desirable, do consider how good the work will be. Because of experience or reputation, some of these professionals may charge more than others. Find someone with a good record but charges an acceptable rate.
