Making A Glass Sculpture Alberta

By Alyce Powell

One of the most delicate yet most difficult forms of sculpting would be glass sculpting because it is a form where in one will be susceptible to all kinds of wounds and small cuts. However, there are artists who do not mind getting themselves cut a little bit as long as they can make a beautiful glass sculpture Alberta. If one belongs to this criteria of artist, then he should definitely go into this kind of thing.

Now take note that this kind of activity is quite dangerous because one may get cut by some of shards that he is using. That is why he will be needing some equipment and some supplies that will be able to keep him from getting hurt. Some of the things that he will be needing would be some goggles, some gloves, a torch, a kiln, and a graphite paddle.

The first thing that one should do would be to put on the goggles, the gloves, and wear some long sleeves so that he will be fully protected. Although it is optional, one should probably wear an apron because he will be getting some hot shards on him. If one thinks that he is safe enough, then he may light up the torch already.

After the torch has been lit up, then the dangerous part will come because he will be playing with fire. What he should do is that he should point the torch a little bit at a small piece of glass shard and make sure that it melts just a little bit. If it is already quite soft, then one may actually manipulate it to create a ball.

The first thing to do with these balls would be to actually create a small base from these things. The base is one of the most important parts of the sculpture because it will be the thing that will hold the figure. The thing that will be used for the creation of the base would be none other than the graphite paddles.

From the base, one can now create the figure slowly by building it from the base going upwards with some glass balls and sticks. This is the part where one will be bringing out some of his carving tools in order to shape the figure. Now before the building of the figure, one must first preheat his kiln.

After he has preheated the kiln, then he may start building the figure by making use of the tweezers to pull the pieces around. Of course he will also need to straighten them and building them a little bit with the use of some graphite poles. When one has already finished with this, then all he has to would be to put it on the kiln for it to heat up.

Slowly reduce the flame by ninety degrees in every one hour. That way, the glass sculpture Alberta will not break but will slowly form and harden up. When the sculpture has already cooled down, then it is already steady and may now be considered complete.
