Learning Some Pressed Flower Art

By Sonya Riley

You want to be able to create a new hobby. But you want to get one that is not going to be such a total waste of your idle time. You know you want something that allows you to get to your creative side. So, you decided on learning pressed flower art.

This is one activity that you can go for especially if you have all these special blooms that you would want to get preserved. For instance, you might have been given a very special bouquet from a very special person. You can always have it to last for a very long time by preserving it, the same can be said of pretty blooms you find along the way, especially during spring.

These can be used as accents in your home. Many people would have the blooms they have pressed successfully framed. Most of them get these items set in beautiful frames that allowed them to get highlighted in the process. They then have them hung in different places around the house, especially in areas the are quite barren and require some points of interest on them.

You need to know that these tasks are pretty easy enough even for people who have never really tried getting them done before. But you need to remember that there are actually steps and techniques that you might want to learn about first. It is always very reassuring that you find out all about these techniques though. It is will be easier for you to get better results when you actually know what to do.

Make sure that you are able to pick the right flowers at the right time as well. It is always important that you will have a good idea of the flowers that are currently in bloom in your area. Most people would want to get this done on the spring as this is the time when all the blooms are up and about. So, make sure that you take advantage of this time.

Do pick out the right flowers for this project. Although any bloom would be alright, there are more ideal ones compared to the rest. For instance, you might want to focus on those blooms that happen to have a flatter appearance. This is because when they are flatter they can be easier to press afterward. Those with single petals would be a good find too.

Make sure that after you get the blooms picked up, you get them plunged into the water immediately. Remember that these blooms require as much moisture as they can to stay vibrant in color. There are special food for flowers that you can use too, to ensure that the blooms are properly kept in their best shape come the time that you will be pressing them.

Make sure that you have the materials that you need for the pressed flower art handy too. Never start this project when you have not gathered all the tools that you need in a single place. There will be less distractions and less interruptions when you have the things that you require set beforehand. So, use this very chance to ensure that you will get everything prepared and set first.
