How Vinyl Wrapping May Benefit The New Ghostbusters

By Paula Hess

It's easy to see that the Ghostbusters series is one of the most unique entries in fiction. It has been able to integrate comedy with just a little bit of horror to create a series that just about anyone can get into. With that said, it's clear that there is quite a bit of attention that has been brought to the recently announced entry into the series. I have to wonder, with all of the news surrounding said movie, if the process of vinyl wrapping will be able to help it.

There are many reasons why this third Ghostbusters movie drew attention, amongst them being the all-female cast. I did not feel like this was a tremendous selling point, though the fact that the four main actresses were involved in Saturday Night Live certainly helped matters. Of course, with any remake, there will be detractors and very few can argue with this point. However, I'm of the opinion that a movie of this magnitude requires time in order to see if the movie will hold up.

It's important to keep in mind that the Ghostbusters, as a series, worked because of the premise. The idea of a small company, hired to protect the city against supernatural forces, is treated with a sense of self-awareness that's hard to describe. These individuals are not exactly the stereotypical heroes, which I'm sure is going to be a theme to carry over into this new movie. Of course, in order to said movie to be especially effective, advertising must be brought into effect.

I believe that the aforementioned idea of advertising can come about through the process of vinyl wrapping. Companies along the lines of JMR Graphics are not only able to design wraps, with several vehicles in mind, but apply them with quality intact. Keep in mind that wraps, for this particular movie, are going to have to feature certain elements. The cast that has been talked about earlier, as well as the Ghostbusters logo, will have to be prominently featured.

Is this film going to be good or bad? It's difficult to say, since we only know so much about the movie itself, but it's unfortunate that there are so many people who are writing off this concept immediately. For me, this is a "wait and see" scenario in which people have to watch and see if the movie can hold up to the previous iterations. Once said movie proves itself, I am sure that praises will be the only things sang by fans of the series.
