Road To Being Part Of A Roman Catholic Priest Calendar

By Steven Parker

Many individuals believe that they were called to serve God and the church. They feel that it provides them with spiritual growth as it permits them to provide help and assistance towards other people in an entirely different way. A great number of persons want to be part of this but there are also a great number of things they need to think of before deciding.

There are several things that is required before one becomes a Catholic priest, and that includes being Catholic, of course. Educational background and the spirituality of the person is also taken into consideration for evaluation. If you have seen the Roman Catholic priest calendar and you feel that you want to be one of the men featured, check out the requirements below.

One of the few things that is required is for you to obtain a bachelors or college degree. One has to go to school and take any program or course that can be related to religious studies easily like communications, history, philosophy, or religions among others. You can choose to go to a university or a seminary where they also formally educate men who would like to be priests.

It is also important you acquaint yourself with religious leaders or people with position in the church for guidance and enlightenment in the path that you are considering taking. They might as well provide spiritual advice that will be of help to you. Another important thing is they can also aid you in joining programs that will open your eyes to the life of priesthood.

Becoming an active participant in church and their activities will also help you better understand the life that they lead. It may be vital for you to do so as this will increase your awareness about the religious life as well as get you used to such activities that you may encounter in the future. Things as simple as joining the church choir can be one step.

After going to college, one can proceed to being a candidate. Make this time a time to contemplate on your decisions of wanting to become a priest. Use it to think about the things you will have to undergo as well as sacrifice to follow the life of serving the church and its Deity.

After which, one can enter seminary in order to follow up on his education regarding the religious life. If you have gone through college, your years in seminary can be shortened. This is the place where you and others will be taught the specifics of the life of the religious by offering programs such as pastoral ethics, preaching, liturgy and several others.

After that, you shall be called by the Bishop or any other religious leader to be ordained and granted the sacrament of Holy Order. They may do this during a holy mass or other special ceremony that they would conduct. After such ceremonies, you will be assigned to a parish or place where you will most like be serving or practicing the religious life for six months or so.

If you endure, you will be off to priesthood in no time. But as with other jobs, there are different practices for priesthood which you shall know about once you enter seminary. The decision of whether or not you will want to be a priest shall be clear to you during your time in the seminary.
