The Awards Of The Brady Bunch Television Series

By David C. Grimes

The Brady Bunch is the sitcom that began 40 years back. The TV series was made the moment Sherwood Schwartz learned that 20 to 30 portions of families had no less than one kid from previous marriage. With this thought, he wrote a 30 minute pilot episode. Where a widow with 3 daughters marries a widower with 3 sons and they all wind up coming to the honeymoon together.

When it came to choosing the cast, the creators think it would be a lot easier if the kids had the same hair color as their parents. The problem started when the casting of the kids started first, so, in order to back up their plan they have to have 3 blonde girls, 3 blonde boys, 3 brunette girls and 3 brunette boys.

Carol's part was supposed to be played by Joyce Bulifant from Mary Tyler Moore Show. But when Florence Henderson auditioned, she nailed her screen test. So Florence ended up having the role, consequently, it means that all girls were going to be blonde. Some people think it would be much better if the girls were brunettes. Because they think, brunettes seem more mischievous.

The Academy Award winning legend, Gene Hackman has been picked to depict the part of the architect father Mike Brady. Paramount Studios did not agree to this, believing that Hackman was not recognized during that time and would never have performed on TV. It's very possible that Mr. Hackman would have dodged a bullet on this decision. So the role ended up with Robert Reed, who didn't want the part. He had been auditioning for Paramount Studios for three various shows and this has been his least favored. He previously had numerous disagreements with the show over the years so he did not appear on the final show.

The Brady Bunch TV Series was one of the last shows to showcase fun at home, comedy scenarios, full of children, and middle class parents. Each one of these happy faces lived inside a 4 bedroom property in LA suburbs. The Brady Bunch story revolves around family camping trips, kids getting together and rivalry for the household telephone. There is one time, when their Dad placed a payphone and not to overlook the conflict in the restroom.

During the start of The Brady Bunch Series, the children's age ranged from 7 to 14 years old. The eldest son, Greg portrayed by Barry Williams became a teenage idol. In 1971 he was receiving 6,500 fan letters per week. Barry, together with the others decided to put their TV screen success into recording careers in 1970s but without notable success.
