White German Shepherds are unique canines that have numerous qualities that are similar to those of traditional German Shepherds. They are highly affectionate, protect their families in a loyal manner, and usually enjoy physical exercise. Even though most registries do not recognize their color, this breed is renowned throughout the world and many pet lovers choose such dogs. Fortunately, it is not hard to find White German Shepherds for sale.

The breed was first developed in Europe. It is believed to be a combination of traditional Shepherds and dogs that had recessive white genes in their bloodline. The coats associated with this breed are beautiful and unique, and as such appeal to many pet owners.

Such dogs cannot be entered into competitions that require breed confirmation, but they make loving and loyal pets. Additionally, White Shepherd enthusiasts have created their own club for the purpose of improving breeding programs. Shepherds in this category are good watchdogs, trackers, and protectors. Due to their athletic, muscular builds, they also excel in sports. They can be used to herd other animals as well, and for this reason are often seen on cattle farms or ranches. Because they are so active, it is important for owners of such dogs to ensure that they have a suitable area in which to run and play on a daily basis.

Just like their darker colored relatives, they have even tempers and are quite reliable. For this reason, such canines are often trained to work as service dogs. They are particularly efficient in assisting to care for handicapped individuals, such as those who are blind. They are quite easy to train as police dogs as well, and are used in this capacity on a frequent basis.

The aforementioned dogs are large, and stand approximately 26 inches tall. Their length is usually a few inches longer than their height, and they are strong and muscular. However, their size does not prohibit them from being ideal family pets, and they are typically cautious and careful around youngsters.

Just like traditional canines in this category, this kind of Shepherd is at an increased risk for specific hereditary health issues. These include hip or elbow dysplasia, hemophilia, and eczema. Keratitis, which is an inflammatory eye condition, and epilepsy are also a problem among such dogs, although the latter two disorders are much less common than the former three.

When shopping for White German Shepherds for sale, it is essential for individuals to choose a breeder with care. It is never wise to do business with an individual whose kennels appear to be crowded or unclean, or who attempts to encourage the prospective buyer to meet him or her in an area other than where the dogs are kept. Fortunately, reputable breeders are not difficult to locate, and virtually any dog lover will be pleased with the happiness such a pet brings to his or her household.
