First Rate Camcorders Are Not As Expensive As You May Presume

By Fred Davies

If you are about to go on holiday, or want to make some new home movies, you may have been searching through all the various camcorders on the market for something to buy. The best news is that good quality camcorders are getting cheaper and cheaper every day, so now is a better time than ever to buy one.

A few years ago it could cost an arm and a leg to get a High Definition camcorder, with the HD models normally only in the hands of video professionals around the world. But as more and more companies began to release HD cameras, the competition lead to prices decreasing drastically.

While at the start of the century one might have had to pay thousands of dollars for an HD model, now it is only a few hundred. Depending on whether you want a well known name or a lesser known one, the prices can range from very cheap to reasonable. These cameras come loaded with great features too, many may surprise you with how much they can do.

For a good price you can get a camera with a high quality LCD that even incorporates technology like touch-screen, so if you're used to using it on your phone, it will be an easy integration. This method makes things a lot faster and easier to use, and you will find yourself doing a lot more with the settings than you may have with previous models.

Many people have actually only used their previous camcorder's very basic abilities, using automatic settings. Being able to control things like white balance, focus, zoom levels, light and much more, can mean higher quality movies.

The step up in quality from Standard Definition to 1080 High Definition is enormous, and if your previous camera was SD, you are going to be amazed by the picture. Of course, to add to that, there are no more tapes in most models, with the camcorders instead recording to SD cards. So you don't have to worry about those horrible digital artifacts that sometimes showed up if a tape got a little damaged.

This of course also speeds up the editing process, if you like to edit your movies on your computer afterwards. No more spending hours playing all the tapes, as you can just copy your files over directly using a USB connection.

Not only do they deliver great video, most take really good still pictures too, with the average photo size around 5 mega pixels, which is quite high quality. It is the perfect way to capture your vacation or other memories, and at the great prices they are on sale for now, there is no excuse if you're looking to buy one.
