Learn Something About Australian Labradoodle Puppies

By Marissa Velazquez

Australian Labradoodle puppies are produced from crossing either standard Toy Poodles and Labradors, or Miniatures and Labradors. First puppies of this strain were first cross bred in Victoria, Australia by some breeder called Conron Wally. Conron was a known dog breeder during that time who always aimed at generating a species that would have a low-shedding skin and be trainable and gentle. Conron desired these properties since they would work well for individuals with allergies for fur and dander.

All the qualities he wanted were present in Poodle and Labrador. The Labrador is gentle and highly trainable while the poodle has a low-shedding coat. The first breeding experiment was performed in 1955 and led to the emergence of the name. The name however remained less popular until 1988 when the breed started gaining use as an allergen-free guide pet.

The crossbreeding trial resulted in puppies one of which was called Sultan. Sultan proved to have all the qualities Wally Conron was searching for. The puppy was intelligent and had a strong personality which permitted him to act as an elegant guide dog. Sultan was taken to Hawaii to serve as a guide dog and was successful. After great success, other dog breeders noticed the benefits of the experiment Conron Wally had carried out and they began crossbreeding Labradors and Poodles.

When trained well, Labradoodle puppies have many attractive qualities that allow them to be used on a number of tasks. First, they can make great family pets. They accept everyone in the family as best friends and are never violent. They are joyful animals and reveal their joy by playing and jumping around when happy. They show great devotion to the family they live with.

Different puppies in a litter may reveal different qualities. Some may be aggressive and may show this by attacking their siblings while others may prefer seclusion and always hide in the corner. When choosing a puppy, one should avoid the aggressive and the loner types because the character may only intensify as they grow older. The best option to go for is the average puppy that finds fun in socializing with people and its siblings.

An average puppy is always jovial allowing people to hold it. Normally it runs to people and finds it easy to bond with them. The temperaments will however sometimes depend on such factors such as socialization, coaching and training, and heredity. The temperaments of the parents have a great impact on the behavior of the puppies that arise. Sometimes it is a good habit to visit the parents and relatives of the puppy one wants to buy because how they behave may tell something about it.

Medical clearances are also of much significance on any dog. Parents or relatives must be checked to ensure they have all the required health clearances. Ailments that someone must check to ensure there is medical clearance for include epilepsy, elbow dysplasia, diabetes mellitus, ear and eye infections, hip dysplasia, allergies, and hypothyroidism.

Australian Labradoodle puppies can be purchased from any breeder. They are easy to train and they do not need a lot of care to survive. It is a good breed to consider as a guide, family, and therapy dog.
