Female Musicians From This Decade And Past Decades

By Marylou Forbes

There have been female singers for as far back as anyone can remember. Things have changed quite a bit since the times when women like June Carter Cash was singing. Female musicians today are more like performers than singers. The spend most of their time on stage shaking their butts instead of singing.

There are female singers that actually sing and don't act the way some of the others act. There are female singers like Taylor Swift who has an amazing voice and is also graceful and classy. Carrie Underwood is also spectacular and has the voice of an angel. She is able to keep her dignity and her clothes on while performing because everyone is amazed by her voice.

These girls that get up on stage half dressed shaking their butt and breast are only doing it to get attention. Now you may think that I am an old person that just doesn't get the new dances. I'm not old and I do understand the dances. You can do these new dances without looking like a prostitute.

I am a bit old fashion when it comes to clothes. I do not believe that you should go on stage in front of thousands of people in a bikini top and shorts that show your butt cheeks. In fact I don't believe you should walk out your door wearing that unless your headed to the beach or a pool.

I thought I could get through this article without mentioning Miley Cyrus but I guess that is not going to happen. Miley Cyrus has great songs, she is beautiful, great personality, and a tremendous voice. With that being said, why in the world does she insist on degrading herself with her clothing and her out right ridiculous antics?

What happened to simply going on stage dressed appropriately and singing a good song with a great voice. You do not have to have trashy dancing and even trashier clothes to be seen. Aretha Franklin, Dolly Parton, Stevie Nicks and Carly Simon all did it without being trashy and became quite famous because of it.

These women didn't do vulgar dance moves and they wore clothes that didn't reveal too much. These female singers today have voices just as great as the older generation but you just don't realize it since all you can concentrate on is what they are wearing or not wearing in most cases. You are also distracted from their voices by the vulgar dance moves they do in their routines. Every decade the clothes get just a little more skimpy and the dances get a little more vulgar.

It doesn't have to be that way. If you are a famous singer you got signed because you have a wonderful voice so why not use that voice to win over fans instead of stripping down to barely nothing and simulating sex on stage. I get that most dances these days are a bit nasty for lack of a better word but you can do the popular dances without degrading yourself and your parents. What must these parents be thinking of their little girls up on stage showing off all of their body and shaking parts of their body that shouldn't be shook in public?
