Violin on the late 90s are mostly played only in a romantic genre. This instrument is commonly associated with romance and love songs. Today, it is now being used as part of the fundamental instrument for most pop rock bands. There are also two positions, this instrument can be played. It is either standing or sitting.

Good postures while playing this instrument is very vital to reduce straining injuries. A well established posture is the best foundation for excellent playing. Unfortunately, most violinists are not so sure on how to hold a violin correctly. In this article, you will know more about it.

If you are playing in a standing posture, you have to make sure that you set your feet a shoulder width apart. You should always concentrate your weight uniformly on both of your feet, but this depends on where you are comfortable at. Even though you are standing or sitting, you always have to straighten up your spine and make sure your shoulder is relaxed as much as possible while keeping it leveled.

In positioning your fiddle, you have to find a way that you can actually get a good hold of it without even raising your left shoulder. It should stay horizontal without using your left hand as a support. If this is not done correctly, this may cause a negative effect on the ease of your shifts later on.

Also, the type of chin rests you use should depend on the length of arms that you have. If you have longer arms, a left plated one can perfectly fit you. Otherwise, you can utilize a center plated alternatively.

A chin rest can be very useful if you are to use the fiddle in a longer span of time without having too much discomfort. The chin rest help ensures that your jaw has a comfortable place to sit on. This also provides a distance from your jaw to your collarbone.

If you still have trouble holding your fiddle, you might have a fiddle which has a size that does not fit for you. Always remember, that it is better to use a small violin than those big ones. Also, some techniques can be learned faster in those small instruments and it is much safer too.

Keeping the instrument in balance with your shoulder, will prevent strain in your chin, specially if you will be playing it in an extended amount of time. Make sure that you practice in a correct position all the time so that it would not be a problem during your performance. Strained neck can be a not so serious injury but if your neck is constantly strained, there is a probability that it will create complications later, which is not good.

There are many methods you can actually try, but the main thing you should be considering about is where you are most comfortable. If ever you still think that you are not in a comfortable position, even though you tried these tips, you can ask for professional help to guide you through about it. Not all people are comfortable in certain things. If you want to, you can actually modify methods and use it as just a guide for you to be able to create your own that you find comfortable.
