How To Be A Ben Franklin Reenactor

By Tanisha Berg

For the purpose of teaching the people about history, historical reenactments are being performed. They typically present the events that happened during that specific period of time. The very important factor for the success of the reenactments are those people who plays the characters involved.

There are a lot of roles that could be played. The people interested could be medieval monarchs, war doctors, soldiers, and other roles. There are also those who reenacts figures prominent in history. One of them would be a Ben Franklin reenactor. A person depicting Benjamin Franklin dresses like him and acts like him as though he is the actual individual.

Reenacting is a hobby that a lot of people enjoy. They call reenactments as living histories and would like to become part of it. A person should consider several things to be able to become a reenactor.

Any individual can be a reenactor. They could be ranging from the elderly to even little kids. However, the roles given to the children are pretty much limited. For the older generation, they could land a part of being a war veteran.

If participating in a very active role, such as in civil war reenactments, the actor should be in a very good physical condition. This type of reenactment is usually done in an open field. He may need to carry guns as well as other forms of armory. He may also need to perform in rainy weather so his health should permit him to do so. He also needs to prepare himself from the fact that there is no current technology to be used during the presentation.

It would be nice if he has a lot of acquaintances who are into reenactments. He will be able to ask for additional ideas as to how he should be portraying his character, and if he is doing a great job. They can also share their knowledge about history with each other so additional learning is expected.

Clothing worn by the people of previous times should also be worn by the reenactors. Such clothes are very expensive as they can only be bought from several stores that offer such. It would be a plus if the individual knows other reenactors whom he can ask for help. These people tend to help a person who are also into the same hobby. The actor should research extensively as to the costume he should be wearing so that it will look real. For this matter, his financial side should be ready.

The kit should also be prepared and ready for use. For a person portraying Franklin, a cane, a pair of sunglasses, or an umbrella would be included in the kit. The kit includes items that the figure is typically seen using.

When he already has the necessary things set, he will then have the chance to be part of a living history. Aside from that, he will also be gaining additional understanding of history from these events. Reenactments are truly serious yet fun events.
