Thinking Of Using Professional Led Moving Head Stage Lights

By David Stewart

A lot of bar rooms and dancing clubs will have a lighting system installed to create an eye catching light show. Often these will include colored cans, flashing traffic light units or maybe single white or colored spots. One of the most effective ways to create a spectacular visual display is to add professional led moving head stage lights to your lighting rig.

These lighting units can be bought in many sizes and designs and selecting the most appropriate unit for your premises is important. Some can be used as a standalone floor rig, but usually they will need to be attached to a ceiling or specialized metal light racks. The effects can be controlled either manually, programmed to a determined routine or through sound activation linked to the music system that you are using.

This kind of professional lighting is very versatile as the units are built to rotate through 360 degrees and are aimed in different directions. Various colors can be emitted from the units depending on what kind of led bulbs are fitted. Even more variations are possible by using two or more light units or when they have been connected to a DMX controller.

If your lighting system is operated using just sound activation they will turn and swivel in conjunction with the music. The direction in which they move will be random and not controlled and may alter depending on the volume coming from the speakers. When they are connected to a control unit they can be programmed to operate to a sequence chosen by the person operating them.

This type of lighting can also be controlled manually via a controller as well and this can be very useful when lighting a performer who tends to move around a lot. A single beamed spotlight can be used to illuminate a singer or solo performer and kept on them as they move around the stage. Multiple colors and shapes can also be controlled by the person operating the control box.

You do not need to be a trained lighting expert to get good results from a DMX. With some tuition on the system the results can be dramatic. Text can be produced so the names of bands or clubs can be projected onto a backdrop. A large amount of numbers, shapes and colors can transform a bland room into a fantastic show. The more channels that are available, the more complex the effects will be.

If you choose to install a complex system which is programmable you will also need the correct type of professional cables and plugs to connect everything together. A professional lighting system should always be fitted by a trained electrician and checked for safety. Some of the cabling and connectors can be costly but it is advisable to buy the best quality that you can find.

All lighting rigs will require some routine maintenance. The bulbs may fail after a time and will require replacing. Lenses need thorough cleaning to keep a crisp and sharp image. Within the unit itself the small motors that swivel the heads will often need inspecting to make certain they continue to function efficiently.
