What Are The Different Ways People Can Learn Piano Notes?

By Anthony Fernando

Learning the numerous notes on a piano is sometimes seen as one of the most tedious or difficult parts of taking up the instrument. Many of us just wish to sit themselves down and start plinking away at the keys.

While its wholly your decision to do this, its highly recommended that most players at least get a basic understanding on the notes they are going to be playing. This'll help greatly with the rate at which you learn.

What Are The Alternate Ways To Learn Piano Notes?

Books/Sheets

This is the conventional way that many piano players have learnt the fundamentals of their instruments.

There are a whole load of different books, guides and instructional materials available for sale for anyone learning piano notes.

The only down side to printed instructions are that while there are illustrations, there are no moving pictures in a book, which can often be helpful if you're making an attempt to learn something troublesome or complicated.

DVDs

This is a medium that has taken off in the decade. DVDs have enjoyed a surge in popularity with instrument teachers as they can explain and display complex strategies with video.

You may hear what the music is supposed to sound like together with the timing and rhythm.

Piano Software

If you're a young player or a rather more tech-friendly kind of person, you may be more interested in learning via piano notes software.

If you've got access to a laptop or have a computer next to your piano, you may wish to consider buying some piano software. This has all the benefits of DVD, with the ability to be interactive, meaning that you can take quizzes, watch videos and change the timing at which the music is being played.

Whatever you choice, make sure its a way that works for you.

So there you go, three different ways in which you can learn piano notes. Hopefully this has helped you choose which one you'd like to try.

Good luck and happy practice!
