Rodney only took the name for himself after the release of that album in 1976. Before that it referred to a group that was originally started with bass singer Rupert Willington. They where later joined by tenor singer Delroy Hinds.
The first of the Burning Spear disks that could be attributed to Rodney as a solo artist was Dry and Heavy. This was released in 1977. In the same year he also did his first live recording of a concert in London that took place at the Rainbow Theater.
He continued to create albums regularly until 2008 and his most recent recording is Jah is Real which also won him a Grammy for best Reggae album.
