Piano Teacher: Guide on Burnout Problems

By Eric Pfeifer

Since music all about bring the life within into the outside, the mind and attitude of a piano teacher plays a major role in how this can happen, hence he must always keep himself motivated at all time. Good interactions, maybe with another fellow teacher may be the magic that non motivated teachers need to get out of the rut is just someone to call out the good side of him. There should be a good music that can get you up, since that is what you do too, do not hesitate to use it. Even though you teach music you must listen to it, and often too, sometimes we only listen to the music played by our students as they learn o the piano, maybe for week long, this will not give us the experience we desire and definitely will not help.

Everybody love hearing the experts play, because they do it very well to appeal to their minds, listen to the music of others who are experts in the field and get something new for your students so that you can always remain relevant in their minds. Although there are other factors causing fatigue or burnout for a piano teacher which are peculiar to individuals. There is nothing as bad as having a student who remains non teachable after several efforts to get the knowledge into their heads, it can be really frustrating and debilitating, but we must be aware they exist. Allowing students to dictate your life and class will lead to a disaster get rid of any student that is not helping you in any way, refund the money paid if possible or else let the student know beforehand that you will not tolerate bad behaviors or failure. Be patient with the students as to determine where they stand in the area of talent and skills; do not judge them too early, which can be a grave mistake.

Students do learn quickly when they are allowed to learn in an atmosphere where they are free to express themselves and where the teacher understands them well. Looking at the attitude of students and their responses in your class will help you determine whether they are enjoying your class or not, if you find out that they are not, then change your method. Not going overboard in everything you do is still important, but you would have to sit with the student to find out how you can plan your class in a way that he will enjoy it and learn fast. Set this as the rule and keep to it as much as possible.

To ensure this, firstly you must have passion for music, and have the right attitude towards it as part of life which everybody must benefit from to make our society better and to help people realize their dreams about life generally.

Being able to go for the best should be an attitude you must cultivate, it will help your students too. This type of atmosphere will help the students a lot to have enjoyment in what they are doing, get a good foundation in them and allow it to rub on others in their performances. If your students does not have respect fro you can they will not be able to learn from you as well, your standard will ensure they do.

The standards that you set must be well spelt out to te students from the beginning to help them grow along with it. Use the various means that you can help you reach out to your prospective students and prepare them for the class experience with you, include important information they must have and work upon before they can join your class. To cap it all, both students and parents must have a good understanding of what they are to get from you.
