Far More Media Will Undoubtedly Be Consumed About The Web

By Lexie Grillot

How many people subscribe to cable companies for their TV programming? While the reality remains that most people do, the number is definitely less than it was a few years ago.

We all know that video rental companies have gone out of business and both small and large stores have vanished. This is due to services that allow you to watch your movies online. There are plenty of them and the growth of most movie libraries has led many people to reducing the number of premium movie channels they pay for.

Some people are even passing up paid TV altogether and choosing to watch it on their computers, or even stream it straight to their TV sets. When options such as Satellite Direct exist, it's not such a hard decision to make. Viewers can easily see the same TV shows they're used to watching, without paying monthly subscriptions.

If you turn on MTV nowadays, it's almost guaranteed that you won't be seeing a music video on the channel.

With all of these advances in streaming media, what does his imply about where TV is headed? Will you have your typical cable box with the channels you have now in the future, or will things be completely different in a few years?

It seems like just about everything is taking place online. Why shouldn't it? Internet speeds have increased, and so has the picture quality that comes with streaming media. Does this mean that people will stop paying for television altogether?

The future should be interesting since things never turn out exactly as predicted. The one thing we can say with certainty is that viewers will be the winner as more and more companies compete for their business without the monopolies that local providers usually have.

There's a good chance that advancements we never even thought possible will come straight into our homes in the very near future. This will make things even more exciting.
