Taking a Closer Look at the Dell Streak 7 Wi-Fi Tablet

By Connie Bacher

Those who had laptops initially gave the iPad an unenthusiastic reception, not seeing the capabilities of the new gadget. Then people quickly started to discern the genuine purpose of the iPad. They became sought out, gross revenues and profits soared and all of a sudden all of the leading computer and cellular companies wanted to get in on the action. Abruptly, Tablets were in all the retail outlets. And Dell's shareowners will be distressed if they didn't try and get a piece of the pie. The Dell Streak 7 Wi-Fi Tablet is the result of that concern. We're going to assess this device in this article and give you the answers you need for you to determine if it's a good purchase or not.

It's a good device for movies with a similar system to watch movies for ipad. It's simpler to recommend a product when the company behind it has a good name - that, however, is not the case with Dell. Dell is one company that isn't recognized for the quality of its products. And as for Dell's customer service: well, let's just put it this way: if Dell owned a trophy shelf, it would not be overloaded with consumer accolades. Numerous customers have said that when they called Dell customer support after the warranty expiry date, they were billed. Thus, while this tablet is in all likelihood going to be one of the inexpensive tablets sold on the market, you must take some time to think about who you will be paying that money to.

Nowadays, multitasking between various functions is much in demand, and the Android OS version used here, named Froyo, should make it comparatively easy. It's not a necessity to keep certain programs "live" in order to get messages from the system's notification service, while simultaneously listening to MP3s and keeping your GPS information updated. There are no worries about being incommunicado with the Dell Streak 7 tablet; communications via Gmail and other email setups are well-supported.

A great feature of this tablet compared with the initial iPad is video chat. Video chat comes built in to this tablet through a front-facing panel camera and Qik software. However, yes, there is a caveat: a person who has the same Dell Streak 7 tablet, or something compatible, presents no problem - otherwise, incommunicado you will remain. So there is no a universal video chat app available. A bonus for this tablet is that it comes with the On Demand service from Blockbuster. Admittedly, though, Blockbuster's recent troubles have made us think twice about giving this Dell tablet a thumbs up.

So far, there aren't plenty of reviews about this particular product though several people are questioning what the purpose of this product could actually be. The Dell Streak 7 tablet's real use is limited by its not being extensive and its consequent inability to communicate with incompatible devices. Nonetheless, a strong desire for a tablet computer coupled with a limited budget could make this tablet an ideal way to acquaint yourself with the technology. Just make certain you know what you are buying before you actually give your money to Dell.
