A Wi-Fi Tablet Examined: The Dell Streak 7

By Gloria Goldberg

People who owned laptops initially gave the iPad an unenthusiastic reception, not seeing the potentials of the new gadget. Then people quickly started to realize the true use of the iPad. iPads became sought out, sales and net profits surged and abruptly all of the leading computer and mobile phone companies wanted to join the action. The iPad and other tablets became the current must-have. Of course, Dell is trying to get its piece of the pie. That is the very reason they created the Dell Streak 7 Wi-Fi Tablet. We're going to assess this device in this article and offer you the answers you need for you to decide if you should get or not.

It's a good device but watching movies is not a simple as when you download ipad movies. It's better to recommend a device when the company that makes it has a good reputation - that, however, is not the case with Dell. Dell isn't known for the quality of the products it makes. Dell also has a questionable history when it comes to customer service. Many customers have shared that when they made service calls after the warranty expiration date, they were charged. Buying a product from Dell can have future implications - and not just price - which may well outweigh the quick savings from it being a relatively affordable product.

Multitasking is made possible by the tablet's OS, an Android OS version nicknamed "Froyo." The system's notification service keeps you informed even if all programs aren't open and running, and at the same time, you can maintain your GPS information and listen to MP3s. Friends and business contacts will always be able to reach you on your Streak 7 tablet because it lets you access your email accounts, including Gmail, relatively easily.

Video chat was not included with the first iPad offering, and it's great that it is with the Dell Streak 7 tablet. This Dell tablet, using Qik software and a front-facing panel camera, allows for video chat. The hassle is , however, that you won't be able to communicate with people who don't own the same Streak 7 device, or something compatible. Simply put, the video chat function is not all-encompassing in its application. Another great thing is that the Dell Streak 7 table comes built in with Blockbuster's On Demand service. We're not so certain that this is a terrific feature, after all, because of the problems Blockbuster has been having in the past several months.

Reviews right now are few and far between, but it does look like most people are skeptical as to the reasons why this tablet was createdd. The unit's functionality is pretty limited through it not being able to able to interact with other devices that aren't compatible with this particular Dell tablet. But, if you think you're missing out and you are interested to ascertain whether tablets are really the thing for you, the Dell Streak 7 is an inexpensive way for you to figure it out. Just make certain you know what you are paying for before you actually send your money to the company.
