Some people define movies as a form of escapism, giving it a bad connotation, but any shrink will tell you escapism can be good for you. By watching movies, you can get away from the anxiety and pressure of the workaday world and feel like a teenager years after the fact.

You would want to set up your home theater electronics in the right spot in your home. Don't have it installed where it is in direct contact with the sun's rays. If you place the screen directly across from a window, even with a flat screen, you'll get glare in the daylight hours unless you use light filtering curtains or shades.

The first thing you have to get for your home theater electronics system is a large flat screen TV, so you can be ensured of a crisp-looking picture. Flat-screen TVs are much more affordable than in the past, when they cost an arm and a leg.

Once you've settled the issue of the TV screen, you'll need to decide the number of home theater speakers you want. Allow ample space for your home theater, and be mindful of the size of the room.

Always go with surround sound, and go for something like six speakers and a sub woofer to best approximate theater-quality sound. And take note of the speakers' power rating so you can get a better idea.

Don't just get any DVD player for your home theater electronics system - it would be best if you jump on the Blu-Ray bandwagon if you haven't yet. Remember this term - progressive scan capabilities - this can help you determine the best player among all the brands on the market.

This only means that the system as a different way of reading the image. There is a specific order in reading the pixels. Not all DVD players have that capability. So what's in it for you? It means you get a better image when you watch a movie.

The most affordable, yet most important part of your home electronics system would be the surge protector, so don't leave that out of your shopping list. Without such piece of equipment, you put everything else in danger. This is simply a means of protecting your labor of love and your family as well, just in case the electronics go haywire.
