The Death Of Super Producers : Why The Music Industry Don't Need Them Anymore !

By Sandy Lavalle

Starting in early 2000's, the music business, in particular the communities of hiphop and rnb, saw the emergence of what we now call the "super music producers", accounting for leaders: Dr. Dre, Timbaland, Rodney Jerkins or even The Neptunes.

What precisely is a "super producer"? So, the better interpretation of their difference with a "simple" producer will certainly take the demonstration of what we call a "supermodel" in fashion, such as Cindy Crawford, Claudia Schiffer or even Naomi Campbell. You know those legendary super-models as well as anybody else and you can see all of them on all of the the catwalks. In simple terms: safe values.

This was the identical thing in the music business: there were "big" producers, safe values, that directed many the projects and were looked for by the most well known singers or rappers. It absolutely was usually less hazardous for record labels to work with a renowned music producer by comparison with a newcomer. The well-known producer composed a large number of winning singles, in principle. Just because right at that time regularly big names sold discs.

But, the music industry, after the start of the decade totally changed. First, most people don't actually decide to buy disk any more.

Then the record companies give minimum money for a project. And clearly, record labels will no longer be ready to put in between $ 100 000 to $ 300 000 for one single beat, as was the scenario at the time of the golden age of music producers. The disks tend to not sell and online world grows. To surmount not legal downloading of their artists, record companies create or align with with statutory download systems and make sure to enforce their visibility in this internet scene, that has been getting out their control for way too long.

But the rise up of the web also has has permitted the rise of abundant anonymous producers as good as, if not as good as, "Super Producers".

These producers have focused on the development of the Web, which has enabled them to sell their beats online. Giving them to contact and also work with singer on any nearby scale as well as international one. A producer from Sweden can now advertise beats to songwriters in Japan. It is truly now simpler for them to gain a pretty good authority to get a career. For the artists, this makes a large difference! They are able to buy beats online in their own home for their album, EP or perhaps mixtape for good prices; not at all those applied by the "super producers".

Record labels pay a specific attention to this brand new sector. They buy beats online too. And most recently we can easily notice that some web producers are obtaining hired by majors.

The great age of super producers such as the era of super models disappears slowly but surely, giving way to this brand new business led by producers who, quite often, have nothing to envy to the "super producers".
