Guidos, Guidettes And The Jersey Shore Phenomenon

By Tracy Estepp

In this short article I'm going to inform you every little thing that I know about Jersey Shore.

Generally, Jersey Shore was once a reality tv show that was aired for three years (from 2009 to 2012).

Shot in Seaside Heights, New Jersey, the tv show is about the lives of 8 young guys and girls, called guidos and guidettes, who lived for a time in the lively N.J. town and whom were followed continuously by cameras, shooting their every step. The people that were filmed became bigger than life, mixing up into numerous scenarios in their work and individual lives - some of which were quite controversial. That's exactly what made it so intriguing to watch.

To be truthful, I think that the show was rather interesting to watch. I frequently laughed hilariously at some of the antics of the guidos.

You may question: "what is a guido?" Well, this term actually means "driver." It defines Italian-American men and gals who like to dress up and act in a certain fashion. Guidos normally have well defined bodies and are young and tanned. Dare I say, the weight room is a male guido's friend. Furthermore, absolutely nothing is ever too short for the guidettes. Dressing seductively seems to be a popular style with guidettes. Both guys and girls likewise like to adorn themselves a great deal of jewelry around their necks.

As the tv show got going, the reception in Seaside Heights was not at all welcoming They surmised that shooting such a provocative reality television show isn't really helpful for their small community. Nevertheless, they acquiesced in the end and the tv show began shooting.

The fascinating aspect of Jersey Shore is the truth that the home where the guidos and guidettes took up residence was really filled with cameras. The only location where there wasn't a camera was the showering space. Some of the cast members later stated that they would waist quite a lot of time under the shower simply to get away from all the cameras. In reality, Nicole Polizzi, one of the initial gals, stated that most of the controversial things that were happening in the house were in reality their reactions to those cameras. There is no denying that following young people around with cameras without end will do that.

I need to say that the critics didn't like the show at all. In addition, many Italian Americans were rather put-off as their perception of "Guido" is that of an racial slur.

As the program moved on, the controversy kept going as well with demonstrations and major advertisers canceling contracts. It was these responses from the sponsors that at last put a final end to the program.

Jersey Shore was meant to be enjoyed by young guys and gals. I suggest a few of controversial things that happened on that show weren't expected to be aired within the time period that the show was aired. Ultimately, Jersey Shore might actually be evaluated as a low-value show for anybody other than the young individuals it targeted.
