The Greatest Tony Scott Films In His Career

By Eric Richards

Any time I discuss my favorite directors with friends, one person who I usually forget to mention is Tony Scott. Tony Scott is a good director, but he doesn't have a legacy attached to his name like so many other great directors. But when you take a closer look and go through all the movies he has directed, you will see that he has definitely had his share of gems.

This article will discuss what I consider to be the greatest Tony Scott films of his career.

The first movie I will mention on this list is definitely one of my favorites, and it is none other than True Romance. This cult classic was written by none other than Quentin Tarantino and features an all star cast including Dennis Hopper, Christopher Walken, Christian Slater and Brad Pitt, to name a few.

Another movie that is certainly worth mentioning in this article is Man On Fire. This movie tells the story of real life bodyguard John Creasy, who tore up Mexico City after a girl he was protecting gets kidnapped. I'm not sure how much of this film is actually true, but it is awesome nonetheless.

Dj Vu is another great Tony Scott directed movie. This film stars Denzel Washington (surprise, surprise) and takes place in one of the greatest American cities there is, New Orleans. If you like films involving time travel, this one is worth seeing.

The Last Boy Scout is another interesting film that happens to be directed by Tony Scott. I was a little young to fully appreciate this film when I saw it for the first time, but upon watching it again recently, I realized that is a great movie.

The final movie on this list is Top Gun. Top Gun truly defined the late 80s action movie. This film stars Tom Cruise, Val Kilmer, and whoever that guy is who played Goose.

After you go through his catalog, it is clear that Tony Scott is an accomplished director and has had his fair share of great films.
