Actor and comedian Will Ferrell has appeared in dozens of films. With so many films, however, some are bound to be better than others. So, for the casual viewer, what are the best Will Ferrell movies?
In every corner of the globe, Ferrell fans have cheered the actors hilarious comic performances. Ferrell became well known after his standout performances on TVs Saturday Night Live which led him to his film successes.
Ferrells films for children have a certain charm but they are perhaps less appealing to most adult viewers. Elf, Kicking and Screaming, and Curious George are Ferrells kids movies. Of the three, Curious George, an animated feature about a mischievous monkey based on a series of childrens books, is the strongest, but Elf, a story about one of Santas elves who leaves the North Pole, also garners some good reviews for Ferrells portrayal of a kind of child-like innocence.
Land of the Lost and Bewitched are two of Ferrells films that recreate ideas that originated as television programs. Released during the summer blockbuster season, Land of the Lost used its big special effects budget to recreate the giant dinosaurs and mythical creatures that appeared in the 1970s Saturday morning TV show. Though Bewitched spent less on digital enhancement, its storyline is more engaging.
Of all of Ferrells films, Anchorman, Talladega Nights, and Blades of Glory are the funniest and most characteristic of Ferrells individual style. The last film in the comedic trilogy, Blades of Glory pokes fun at the world of figure skating. It follows Ferrells other sports parody, Talladega Nights wherein comedian Sacha Baron Cohen joins Ferrell in lampooning the drivers of NASCAR. Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy is the best of these three films. Playing a TV newscaster in San Diego, Ferrell uses this set-up to deliver some of his most surreal jokes and gags.
On the whole, Will Ferrell movies are a good use of your time. They will provide you with lots of laughs.
