Ridley Scott's Best Movies In Recent Memory

By Henry Banks

Compiling a list of the greatest Ridley Scott films of all time is no easy task. For decades, Sir Ridley Scott has been behind the lens of some of the greatest movies to come out of Hollywood. Mr. Scott is not bound by any genre; he tends to stray toward action and adventure, but he is willing to try anything.

This article will highlight and discuss what I consider to be the best Ridley Scott films of his illustrious career.

One of the most iconic films that Ridley Scott directed was without a doubt, Thelma and Louise. This film starred Geena Davis and Susan Sarandon as the renegades Thelma and Louise, respectively. If you haven't seen this film and are a fan of either of these actresses, you must.

Black Hawk Down is another great Ridley Scott film. This is one of the few films that depicts war in Africa so well. This movie just has such a real feel to it, not to mention an amazing cast in Josh Hartnett, Eric Bana, Ewan McGregor and Tom Sizemore.

No list of Ridley Scott films could be completed without giving mention to Gladiator. This is arguably the film of his career, and it came as little surprise to most who saw it when it won the Academy Award for Best Picture. Russell Crowe and Joaquin Phoenix were both excellent.

Another one of the all time great Ridley Scott movies is Blade Runner. This classic film was released in 1982 and at the time of me writing this article, is ranked as the 113th best film of all time according to the Internet Movie Database.

One other movie that I feel is worthy of mentioning is Kingdom Of Heaven. Few people do war films as good as he does and this film was proof of it. No, it was not as good as Gladiator, but it was still an enjoyable film.

Hopefully there are one or more films from the great Ridley Scott in this article that you have yet to see.
