Charice has always been an amazing performer. But her transition from being a singer/performer to acting is one heck of a challenge for her. I have seen her acting when she appeared in Philippine shows and they weren't commendable at all. So when it was announced that she'll be appearing on glee, as much as fans were greatly excited, hungry critics were also waiting just to smash her.
Luckily, her stints on Glee Season 2 from beginning to end have shown impressive improvements. Her acting has drastically enhanced and the emotions she gave we appropriate to every line that she spoke. Even her diction showed great improvement.
It is noticeable though that many critics have given too much emphasis on her weight. There are varied opinions on it but for people who are used to how the camera works, it's obvious that Charice didn't gain weight. It only appeared so because of her hairstyle, her dress, and camera angle among others.
These negative criticisms are very unhealthy. It is because of this overemphasis on weight and looks that Hollywood teens have ended up in the miserable disorders of anorexia and bulimia.
Charice's weight is not a deal. Of course, this is not to say that she shouldn't be watching it. But it is important to note that these critics have an over-sensitive eye on the non-essential. What they should be focusing on is the grandeur of her performance.
Charice sang with returning champions Vocal Adrenaline and belted out an original song entitled "As Long As You're There". The performance was overall impressive. The song's lyrics are noteworthy and the arrangement is spectacular. What's more, the song is able to display Charice's full range and thus giving her talent justice. Every detail of that performance was breath-taking.
Recently, Charice has released a few other singles from her upcoming album and these are "One Day", "Before It Explodes", "Louder", and "Lost The Best Thing". All these songs give increasing anticipation that her new album will be of great potential since these new songs are indeed better in every way as compared t the songs in her previous album. Perhaps, this year, Charice will gain more recognition because she truly deserves it.
