The Funny Youtube Video Making Process

By Joe Nathanelliesti

One of the most enjoyable things to do when hanging out with friends is sharing funny youtube videos. It is the best way to start conversations, share stories and most importantly laugh until it feels like you've done a massive ab workout.

To make things easy on yourself, just simply go to Youtube and do a search for funny videos. From there just ask yourself, were the videos scripted, or were they one of those accidental mishaps where someone was just recording and something funny happened? Most of the time, believe it or not it's both.

Filming a clip and posting it on youtube is easier than some might think. Coming up with the content or subject matter of what to film, takes a bit more creativity. The first thing one should do is watch some funny videos on you tube that get plenty of views. Be ready to ask yourself why the video was funny. Next, write down some ideas.

Starting with your interests first, would be a good idea. What do you like? Are you a performer? Do you write? Brainstorm your personal interests along with things that you are good at especially with the things that you know how to do very well. Once you've gathered a good amount of topics and ideas, then it's time to storyboard or wing the whole thing.

Before you even consider creating a video, you need a camera first. You can use any video camera to shoot for Youtube, but it's very important that you know how to transfer the footage you record on your camera to your computer. If you don't happen to have the best camera in the world, as long as you have decent equipment for lighting and sound you'll be in good shape. To get a good reaction out of your audience, keep in mind the camera shots, and the recording of your sound. Putting it all together requires that you have some editing ability to control the pace, timing, and shot selection of your video so make sure your abilities in that department are up to snuff. Last but not least, call your friends over to enjoy a good laugh at your funny masterpiece.
