Making Chocolate Covered Gourmet Pretzels

By Shari Swanson

Chocolate covered gourmet pretzels have been around for quite some time. They seem to be gaining popularity lately, with an updated twist. They are salty and sweet and the perfect all around treat.

There is no need to wait to purchase them in the store. They are easy to make at home, thankfully. There are so many ways to share them with family and friends all year long. No matter what the occasion, these decadent snacks are perfect.

Pretzels come in a variety of shapes and sizes, and any one of these can be drowned in chocolate and rolled in toppings. Just some of these shapes include the traditional pretzel shape that is similar to butterfly wings, large rods, small sticks and nuggets.

The chocolate one uses to cover the pretzel can be another fun option in this process. You can use a number of types of chocolate including milk, dark, semi-sweet, white and bittersweet. As long as you can melt it in a double boiler, you can dip it.

Toppings can be fun to choose, and can be customized according to the person who will eat the treat, or the occasion on which you will serve them. You may roll them in sprinkles, peanuts, colored sugars, crushed peppermint candy or mini candies. In most cases, the more you can do with these pretzels, the better. The new trend is creating loaded pretzels that are rolled in all of your favorite treats. Just be careful that the rods do not snap under the pressure.

What a wonderful way to spend a day. Creating chocolate covered gourmet pretzels that people love with the people you love and for the special people in your life. Your creations will be almost as delicious as the memories you created making them.
