My old roommate and I decided to take an impromptu trip to Africa a while ago, and while we were there, we found some fantastic fun in African cinema, especially Ghana movies. Prior to this trip, I had never heard anything about these movies made in Africa, but soon enough, I was learning all about the great movies that exemplify the unique cultures in Africa. While our trip did involve a bunch of visits to various cultural sites, restaurants, and a few bars, what I remember most is watching a new movie every night after we got back to where we were staying.
After our trip, we both went back to our usual routines, and around a year later, she got married, and we were both busy and didn't talk very often. So I was pretty stunned when she called me one day and informed me that she was coming over and bringing a movie for us to watch. I was very glad to hear from her, and I assumed that she would be bringing over some new Hollywood hit.
You can imagine my delight when she walked through the door holding up a copy of one of our very favorite movies from our trip. I was thrilled to be watching a film that I had thought I would never see again, and I found myself loving the movie just as much as I had the first time we saw it.
After the movie, we found ourselves talking about our trip and I said how much I missed watching the Ghana movies like the one we had just seen. My friend smiled and told me that she had felt the same way, but then had discovered a website where all of the fantastic movies from Ghana as well as some Nigerian movies were sold.
I could barely contain my excitement and I instantly grabbed my laptop and looked up the address she told me. And there, I was ecstatic to see the movies that we had watched on our trip, as well as tons more new releases that I couldn't wait to watch! We spent another hour or so looking over the website together having a delightful time laughing and talking about some of the movies that we had seen, and before she went home, we had placed a big order for movies that we were going to watch together so that we would always remember our incredible trip together.
