Finding Incredible Acting Employment

By Christopher Archbold

Starting out in acting is a difficult path. Mostly because people just aren't prepared for where you need to start. You always start at the bottom in any career. Mostly because you just don't have the credibility and you haven't learned enough about the career. But One Source offices can be the best friend in the world when you're just starting out.

An agency serves as representation. Meaning that they go out to find you jobs. What you do with those jobs is all down to you. This is where your ability to work hard and remain committed to your career is going to determine your level of success.

While you are going to want to be a star, you need to realize that you're not one yet. The whole point of starting an acting career is beginning a path that might lead to stardom. But it's a long and difficult path to endure for most.

There are always dues that you have to pay. And some jobs will be great for getting those out of the way. Work as a paid extra is great, and there are always opportunities if you live in the right location.

Extra work through when choosing a talent agency is important for a variety of reasons. First off, if you want to join the Screen Actor's Guild, which is a requirement for many jobs, you need to be actively working. Extras work counts towards that, and will help you pay your dues in the long run.

Don't underestimate the value of working on a film crew if they can find you a role. While you may not want your future to be behind the camera, sometimes it helps if you start there. It shows your willingness to work hard, as well as your understanding of film.

Working in television is also something people aspire to do. Many actors would love to have a TV show or to work on television in some aspect. With more and more channels on TV, these opportunities are more prevalent than ever before.

You've got to be willing to think outside the box in some cases. While it's not a traditional discipline, don't undervalue the opportunity presented by the internet. Some TV shows and movies are produced specifically for online viewing now. One Source Talent can help you find those gigs a lot more easily. They can be the key to your big break, and shouldn't be overlooked.
