The Dell Streak 7 Wi-Fi Tablet In Review

By Donna Campbell

When the iPad made its debut, a lot of people said to themselves, "Whatever, I have a laptop for that." But then, the actual intent of the iPad started to become more obvious. It didn't take long before all the main providers of cell phones and computers wanted in on on the strong-growing action. Tablets began appearing everywhere. Naturally, Dell is wanting to find its piece of the pie. That is the reason they have come out with the Dell Streak 7 Wi-Fi Tablet. We're going to examine this device in this article and offer you the answers you need for you to decide if it's a good buy or not.

One remarkable feature is movies are clearer to watch than ipad movies. Unfortunately, the most self-evident negative for this product is its maker: Dell. Dell isn't in reality noted for creating good and reliable products. The company likewise has a shady history when it comes to customer service. A lot of customers have reported that when they called Dell customer support after the warranty expiry date, they were billed. You'll find that maybe the tag price of this gadget is more low-priced than most, you should factor in the longer-term cost of the company you're doing business with.

The tablet uses the Android OS (this version is affectionately called Froyo), which means that it should let you multitask between various programs somewhat easily. You should be able to listen to Mp3s, keep your GPS data current, and be notified of different things through the system's notification service without being constrained to keep any specific app open and running. It offers user-friendly access to your Gmail and other e-mail applications and accounts, so you won't have to be worried about whether someone can reach you when you have your tablet with you.

One of the good things about this tablet that wasn't a part of the original iPad design is video chat. The Dell Streak 7 tablet, using Qik software and a front-facing panel cam, lets you video chat. The trouble is , though, that you won't be able to communicate with people who don't own the same Streak 7 tablet, or something compatible. Hence, video chatting with others who own other platforms is not ensured. Another good thing is that the tablet features Blockbuster's On Demand service. You may have known that Blockbuster has been going through its own share of difficulties of late so we aren't very sure if this is really a selling point.

So far, there aren't a lot of reviews about this specific product although some people are questioning what the point of this product could truly be. The unit's functionality is pretty limited through its inability to interact with other devices that aren't compatible with Streak 7. But, if you think you're missing out and you are interested to learn whether tablets are actually the thing for you, the Dell Streak 7 is a cheap way for you to find out. Just make certain you understand what you are purchasing before you actually give your money to Dell.
