A Review of the Dell Streak 7 Wi-Fi Tablet

By Cynthia Branigan

People who owned laptops at first gave the iPad a tepid reception, not seeing the potentials of the innovative device. Very quickly, however, the abilities of the iPad became better understood. They became hot, gross sales and profits soared and suddenly all of the leading computer and cell phone companies wanted to join the action. Suddenly, Tablets were present in all the retail outlets. Naturally, Dell is attempting to obtain its piece of the pie. The Dell Streak 7 Wi-Fi Tablet is the consequence of that concern. Whether this unit makes the grade and is worth buying is what we will try to answer in this article.

It's a good device for movies with a similar system to ipad movies downloads. It's better to recommend a gadget when the company that makes it has a good name - that, however, is not the case with Dell. Dell is one company that isn't recognized for the quality of the products it puts out on the market.. The company likewise has a shady history of providing customer service. From customer feedback, it appears that the moment your warranty lapses, you will be billed for making service calls. Hence, while this tablet is in all likelihood going to be one of the more easily affordable tablets sold on the market, you have to take some time to think about who you will be paying that money to.

These days, multitasking between several functions is much in demand, and the Android OS version used here, referred to as Froyo, should make it relatively uncomplicated. You will be able to listen to Mp3s, keep your GPS data up-to-date, and be notified of different things through the system's notification service without being constrained to keep any specific app open and running. It gives easy access to your Gmail and other e-mail applications and accounts, so you don't have to be worried about whether someone can reach you when you have your tablet with you.

Video chat was not present in the original iPad offering, and it's terrific that it is with the Dell Streak 7 tablet. The Dell Streak 7 tablet, using Qik software and a front-facing panel cam, provides video chat. However, yes, there is a caveat: a person with the same Dell tablet, or something compatible, presents no problem - otherwise, incommunicado you will be. Thus, video chatting with others who are on other platforms is not guaranteed. A fillip for this tablet is that it comes with the On Demand service from Blockbuster. We're not so certain that this is a strong feature, after all, because of the troubles Blockbuster is having as of late.

Reviews right now are few, but it does look like people are unbelieving as to the reasons why this tablet was introduced. The Dell Streak 7 tablet's practical use is limited by its not being universal and its resultant inability to communicate with incompatible devices. Nevertheless, a keen desire for a tablet computer coupled with a small budget may make this a perfect way to familiarize yourself with the technology. Just make sure you are aware of what you are purchasing before you actually commit your money to Dell.
