The Dell Streak 7 Wi-Fi Tablet Reviewed

By Tucker Burnell

People who had laptop computers initially gave the iPad a lukewarm reception, not recognizing the potentials of the innovative gadget. Very rapidly, however, the potentials of the iPad became recognized. It didn't take long before all the main providers of mobiles and computers wanted in on on the fast-growing action. All of a sudden, Tablets could be found in all the sales outlets. Not surprisingly, Dell is aiming to have a piece of the pie. That is the reason they created the Dell Streak 7 Wi-Fi Tablet. Whether this unit makes the grade and is worth purchasing is what we are going to try to resolve in this article.

It's a good device for movies with a similar system to ipad movies downloads. The first drawback on this Dell tablet is its manufacturer. Quality and dependability are not hallmarks of this company's offers. Dell's customer service reputation is also on rather uneven ground. Based on customer feedback, it seems that as soon as your warranty expires, you are going to incur a charge for making service calls. You'll discover that maybe the upfront cost of this tablet is more low-priced than most, you have to factor in the long-term cost of the company you're dealing with.

Nowadays, multitasking between various functions is much in demand, and the Android OS version used here, named Froyo, should make it relatively easy. The system's notification service keeps you abreast even if all apps aren't open and running, and at the same time, you can maintain your GPS information and listen to MP3s. It offers quick and easy access to your Gmail and other e-mail applications and accounts, so you don't have to be worried about whether you can be reached when you have your tablet with you.

One of the great things about this tablet that was not a component of the first iPad design is video chat. Video chat is integrated with this tablet via Qik software and a camera panel that faces front. Still, yes, there is a caveat: a person who has the same Dell Streak 7 tablet, or something compatible, presents no problem - otherwise, incommunicado you will remain. So there isn't a universal video chat program available. The integrated On Demand service supplied by Blockbuster is a positive for this tablet. Of course, Blockbuster has been going through its own share of problems of late so we aren't quite certain if this is really a selling point.

Until now, there aren't many reviews about this specific product though a few people are curious to know what the purpose of this product could actually be. It isn't an extensive device - it can't communicate between non Streak-compatible devices so its functionality is very limited. Nonetheless, if you are desperate for a tablet computer and you don budget, the Dell Streak 7 may be a great way to get used to the technology and figure out if tablets truly are for you. Bearing in mind the earlier caveats, make sure you consider your purchase cautiously prior to committing any money.
