What The Amos And Andy DVD Collection Can Give

By Wendi Osborne

Comedy shows have always been part of the American culture. They are something Americans really love to hear and watch. That's why Amos and Andy DVD collections are now being sold exclusively for older citizens and even the young ones to relive the laughter of the olden times.

As a short background regarding the show, it all started in 1928. It was first a radio serial every night which was under the direction of Charles Correll and his partner Freeman Gosden who also dubbed for the character voices of the show. Later on, the show became a disc jockey program as well as a situation comedy series.

In fact, it was adapted for the television in June 1951. The show, with the help of Blatz Brewing Company, was able to produce 78 episodes all in all using the multi-camera set up for the first time. The actors for the TV show were African Americans; that is why the Digital Versatile Disc cover depicts them.

Even if the camera and lighting set up used at the time were not that advanced, the CDs are now able to show them with great clarity. Digitally mastered, the 78 episodes can now be viewed repeatedly using the collection. You even get a glimpse of parts and episodes that weren't aired.

There are collections that offer uncut versions of the shows, which allow you to extend your laughter even further. The CDs may also show interviews with the whole cast of the radio and television productions that will play even in your own personal computer.

The CDs may include other things. These are cast introductions; cartoons like The Rasslin Match and The Lion Tamer that features the original voices in the radio show; the full length movie of Check and Double Check by the original directors of the show; and so many other bonuses.

Laughter is indeed a good medicine for any type of ailment. That's why Amos and Andy DVD collections are always good to have for one's home theater. They can also be given as gifts for other people. So they too can have a good laugh together with their families. amos and andy dvd
