Beats By Dr Dre Buying Guide: How To Spot Fake

By Cecilie Blaber

Beats by Dr Dre headphones are designed for hip hop and rap individuals who loves more bass and louder music. Less distortion plus accuracy of the Mids and Highs than most lower end headphones. Since Beats by Dr Dre is more on thumping bass, the vocals are overshadowed and weak.

Owning these pricey in-ear or over-ear stereo headphones is something of which one can be proud. Only those without style, money or Dr Dre studio headphones are the only ones to disagree. In order to avoid spending your hard earned money on a fake consider the following ways to spot the authentic bargain.

Check the Batteries

Chinese customs will not allow sellers to ship Duracell batteries. However, these batteries can be placed in fake packages of wireless headphones once they arrive in the States. Be sure the set you choose has Duracells that are 100% wrapped. Only buy Dr Dre headphones form reliable online retailers if shopping on the net.

Packaging Differences

Many counterfeiters find the face contrast hard to print and duplicate. On the real one, it is bright, so many of the darker ones are fakes. Counterfeiter often do not have access to high end printers and cannot match the authentic by Dr Dre Studios.

Some of the Real Headphones have Darker Dr Dre Faces

This was created to let the people know that NOT ALL dark faces are fake. 90% of fakes have dark faces, some have really bright faces. The more accurate way to spot fakes aside from checking the faces would have to be the warranty code inside the battery cover of the headphones. Call Monster to verify your code if it's really authentic.

Spot Some Subtle Mistakes On The Front Cover

To the left is the real package, while the one on the right is the fake.

Differences Identifying the fake:

*Real box has white "by dr. dre", MONSTER logo and wordings under studio while the fake one have them written in gray.

* TM logo is missing on the fake below "by dr. Dre" and right of "studio."

* The metal plate stamped with the B logo is too shiny in the fake.

* Fake has too much contrast between blacks and whites.

*Authentic box has a more natural lighting.

Few More Red Flags For Fake

The touring case of the fake is not plastic wrapped. The touring case is the black case in which the headphones are enclosed. With the authentic case, the plastic wrap is included to prevent scratches in shipping. The zip lock pouch that contains the airplane adapter should not have a red line.

Warning: EBay sellers use photographs of the authentic by Dr. Dre Studio boxes produced by Monstercable when they offer fakes. Monstercable has discovered that older beats by Dre pictures from their site were not trademarked, but have the darker face that does not show the neck. Be cautious of sellers on EBay offering Beats. Never buy from a company that offers only a stock photo without checking feedback.
