Kosmoratik Combines Beautiful Instruments With A Unique Sound

By Casandra Newton

If a person is forever longing for new music they need to give the Norwegian based Kosmoratik a chance. This is a band that puts a new spin on some old basic principles of music and makes it fresh and their own. The songs they produce are edgy and mellow at the same time.

Kosmoratik is a band that plays and records, but they're more than that. They're also considered to be a musical project as well. They venture into intense ideas with in the musical framework.

This is a band that is made up of three varied members. Eivind Johansen is the lead singer. He also writes poetry inspired lyrics for the band to sing. He is no stranger to piano or acoustic guitar as he plays them both occasionally. His musical range spans from folk music to electric music and he has much to contribute in all these areas.

The keyboard player is Odd Gunnar Froysland. He worked on the acoustic Kate Bush project as the guitar player and he has played with many bands. With this band, he is the arranger and composer along with his keyboard playing.

Lise Lotte Agedal is the third member of the group. She is known to be a talented and versatile singer who embraces everything from standby jazz to alternative rock. On their new album Gravitation she plays keyboards and singing.

Interestingly this band has borrowed from its love of 60's and 70's music and yet they have made their own sound. They do not consider themselves to be a retro band. They may use elements but their music is their own.

In the 19th century there was a technique to magnify pictures called cosmorama. It was amazing to view landscapes and foreign lands this way. It also has another meaning and that is to be present in one's own life. Cosmorama inspired this group's name.

The recordings of this group are fresh and innovative and they deserve a listen. All one need do is search their name on the internet for a free sample of their sound. After a person hears it, they're sure to be hooked.

If a person becomes a fan they can even speak to the band through social media. They have a website so that is not to be missed for more information. Events, new sounds and where the band will be next can all be acquired here.

If a person is wondering, what this kind of music is called it is symphonic pop. Blended into the SP are touches of progressive rock. Add in the singers, quality songwriting and amazing arrangement and one can then begin to envision the sound that they are creating.

When reading a review of their work, one could become confused by the contradiction their music inspires. It has been said that they are melodious but with a jagged albeit sincerity. They enjoy giving a nod to those who have inspired them as well. If a person is seeking a uniquely fresh sound then Kosmoratik is worth giving a listen to.
