Western Art Prints Can Have A Vague Definition

By Jennie Sandoval

There are many influences that have come to become a part of what is now western art prints. Prints are reproductions of original paintings. They are made so that not just one picture exists of a painting that is very well done or very popular. Sometimes they are made just to be sold into a certain market. Sometimes they are just made of a painting that is well loved.

There are a lot of different influences that have driven the style over the years. There is also a huge native American influence as well. Take for instance the common picture of a coyote howling as it is silhouetted against the moon. While it may be common people still like having this one.

Sometimes people might think that commonality would take away from the assumed value of such prints, painting, and pictures but surprisingly it does not. Many people really do not mind that the pictures are duplicates or that they may at some point run into someone who has the exact same one hanging on their wall.

The great variety of this style does keep that from happening too often. People find this style very American and it has a very big customer base amongst those who have come to America from across the Atlantic. Europeans typically associate the desert style with our country's culture and they believe that having a picture will make them feel more like they fit in.

Sometimes the prints are paintings that are manufactured on a massive scale so they can be recopied over and over again. These can be made very easily and in big numbers. Typically scenes of deserts can sometimes sell very well in areas that have the opposite climate. Like in the Midwest or somewhere it snows a lot. Maybe it makes people feel warmer.

These are great when framed and hung on a wall. Even better with a few of them staggered along a wall or hung in a stylistic fashion. They make great framed paintings to hang in the living room or even in a hallway. Large or small they can seem to take up an entire wall because of their beauty.

The variety of scenes has always been a favorite of many people. So much so that many of them are reproduced onto postcards, greeting cards, or other things. People often take the familiar scene of the coyote howling against the moon and reprint it on polished wood or carved into a block of wood and then hung. There is almost no limit to where these pictures can be placed these days.

The western art prints can sometimes cover a wide array of pictures and scenes. The desert and its environment have given artists a ton of material with which to work. It has paid off too because almost every print has sold throughout the years. The American Indian influence has also made them popular among the American Indians as well. They have many of these style paintings of their own. Sometimes they are the artists who reproduce the prints.
