When one talks about the field of economics, corporate strategy planning, and policy making, surely the name Phillip Romero will pop up in the conversation. This man is one of the few experts in this line that made a big difference in some governments. It is because of his extraordinary skills of this man that the state of California became more financially stable and the University of Oregon became more famous.
He is a graduate of Cornell University under the degree program of BA Economics and Political Science. After he graduated from his first degree in 1983, he took up an MA in Policy Analysis in Rand Graduate School and graduated in 1985. He then took up his PhD also in Rand Graduate School and finished his education in 1988.
His first job was an economic researcher in the RAND Corporation as well as a defence policy maker. Because of his vast knowledge, he was promoted into director of strategic planning in one of the corporations called UTC or United Technologies Corporation. Of course he was able to spot a lot of marketing opportunities for the corporation and made it perform well.
In 1991, Phillip Romero was taken in by Governor Pete Wilson to become his senior economist of California. Governor Wilson at that time believed that that Romero had the potential to make the state reach its optimum potential. Indeed it was because of him that the state of California was able to survive even though there was a recession in the United States of America.
During the term of Pete Wilson, Romero was also assigned to the government think tank called the Office of Planning and Research. Under his guidance, the OPR became one of the best policy analyzing divisions in the entire state government because of all of the great policies and projects that were made. Unfortunately, Governor Wilson had to leave the office in 1999 which made Romero also lose his job with the former governor.
After working in corporations and government bodies, he decided to return to the classroom by becoming a professor. He taught business administration in the University of Oregon under the Lundquist College of Business. Until the year 2004, he became dean of that college and was known to be one of the best and most well loved professors in that department.
Now when he became the dean, he was able to bring the entire University a level higher by making it receive a lot of publicity from the media. Also, he was able to train a lot of students to become outstanding scholars who eventually made names for themselves. In general, he was able to make the school one of the highest ranking ones in the entire country.
Seeing as to how much of an impact Phillip Romero made not only in the world of business but also in the world of academics, it is safe to say that he really knows what he is doing. This is all because he knows how to work both as a businessman and as a government body. Because of that, he has created a name for himself in this line.
