Different or the Same? A comparison between the Bohemian Rhapsody Lyrics and the life of Freddie Mercury!

By Jason Veal

The song Bohemian Rhapsody is penned by Freddie Mercury of the band Queen. In the time of Freddie Mercury's life, he declined to reveal the meaning of Bohemian Rhapsody lyrics. He instead mysteriously discussed that the song is all about relationships.

Freddie Mercury was born on Sep 5, 1946 as Farrokh Bulsara. His hometown is in a spot called Zanzibar in East Africa and lived there until he was 17. Everyone follows the teaching of a traditional faith called Zoroastrianism that influenced other faiths like Christianity, Judaism and Islam. During his early years, Mercury took piano lessons and formed bands to enhance his musical capabilities. By age 17, everyone fled to escape the Zanzibar revolution of 1964. The family escaped to England and lived there until the remainder of their lives. Mercury signed up to a skill college but did not practice art when he graduated. As an alternative Mercury joined different bands and pursued his passion for music. In April of 1970, Freddie met Bryan May and Roger Taylor and formed the band Queen.

When it came to Freddie's love life, his first significant relationship was with a woman named Mary Austin and lived with her for a few years. But in the end of their relationship, he started his first gay relationship to an American record executive. Freddie Mercury was a bisexual and lived like one nicely. He never displayed this approach to life though as he valued privacy and respected the spiritual values of his loved ones. [Resource:Bohemianrhapsodylyricshq.com]

It is difficult to correlate the life of Freddie Mercury and the song Bohemian Rhapsody because both are very different. Bohemian Rhapsody is actually about a youngster who just committed a murder and conveyed his feelings of fatalism. The great majority of people say that the young man in the track is Freddie himself and mom is Mary Austin. So why compare the former friends with the song's vital characters?

The track was created and completed by the time Freddie stopped his relationship with Austin and started his first relationship to another man. This is an important moment for Freddie because acting on his sexual proclivity is an exceedingly vital call. As we check out his history, we know that Mercury got raised in the Zoroastrianism belief. In this faith, homosexuality is considered a form of devil worship and is completely unacceptable. If we correlate this to the tune, the murder relates to homosexuality. In accordance with his religious beliefs, when Freddie gave in to the lust of his flesh, he basically committed a "murder" by murdering his previous life.

People who truthfully exhibit their true sexual preference will typically feel free. But Freddie did not feel at liberty; instead he felt guilty doing that. In the tune, the young man did not know what to do after committing the crime. The song's main personality does not have any idea on how to carry on with life. When the young man confessed the deed to his mama, he did so with full of remorse. If we take a look at Freddie Mercury's life, developing a homo relationship while continuing to be with Austin must have hurt him. He must've been remorseful in hurting Austin. The road of being a gay was not known to him, and he could have been confused on what to do. He must have struggled with his call for an extended period of time.

These are just speculations regarding the meaning of Bohemian Rhapsody lyrics. The person who actually knows the meaning is now dead. Folk may continue to contemplate the actual meaning of the track for several years to come. Really, Bohemian Rhapsody still catches the imagination of the people that hear it. After several years, it still is one of the most celebrated rock songs of all time.
