By George Harris

In recent months, there has been an endless excitement all over Atlanta about local sound stages Atlanta being assembled in order to accommodate the film making industry. Atlantans appear to be ecstatic. Not surprisingly, who wouldn't want more money coming into the state, not to mention the possibility of bumping into even more stars. For someone who visited Hollywood this development would genuinely keep one enthusiastic. Not surprisingly, the shininess of Hollywood is obviously on the surface. While anyone would enjoy to have the motion picture sector closer to home, it will also display the seedier facet of the industry as well.

Most aspect of Hollywood has found to be too expensive. Additionally, the most well-known locations such as the city of Hollywood, is relatively identified dangerous. While many areas are okay to go to during the day, it is not recommended hanging around after dark, not to mention getting a hotel accommodation there. Sure there are great, risk-free areas too, throughout the glitzy show business industry, anyone who will look close could see a dark side also.

Because of nice tax breaks in Georgia, movie makers can't help but be wooed to their neck of the woods. Recently released motion pictures shot there include "The Blind Side", "The Lottery Ticket", and "Zombieland". Tyler Perry Studios where Madea films and some TV shows are produced are likewise based in the Atlanta area. These movies were shot without the use of established movie studios. Having the studios available to movie makers will surely boost movie making capabilities in the Atlanta area.

In Henry County GA, a studio is now being set up at Tara Field in airport hangars near Atlanta Motor Speedway by Big 5 Studios. EUE/Screen Gems has brand new sound stages at the former Lakewood Fairground, located near the Atlanta Airport. Nonetheless, all isn't well in "Southern Tinseltown". "The Walking Dead" is at present being filmed in the Black Market Area of Atlanta. Business as well as shop keepers aren't too excited about the idea of having entire roads cut off for filming. Compensation packages do not seem to be thrilling enough to make it worthwhile. The main dilemma in this incident will be the lack of communication with the business owners, so hopefully over time such kinks will be ironed out. For all those Hollywood hopeful types who want to get into the movie business, you could keep your eyes peeled for extra parts. You might have by now missed the casting calls for "Mean Girls 2", which will commence filming in Atlanta very soon.

Sound stages Atlanta are a big economic shot in the arm and it takes place instantly the moment that motion picture starts up. So the more movies that get shot in this area due to this infrastructure which are located there to service the motion picture, the better it is for the greater community. Income goes not just into this enterprise, it goes into hotels, gasoline stations and restaurants. The financial impact is substantial. So everybody would like to get a piece of that; the said financial impact in Atlanta.
