Farah Khan to do a cameo in Karan Johar's upcoming Student of the Year

By Rohini Nadia

Like every other film he has sculpted into being, Karan Johar's upcoming Student of the Year packs loads of glamour, extravagance, song and dance routines. Starring newcomers Sidharth Malhotra, Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt, the movie's soundtrack has created quite the rage, particularly The Disco Song (Disco Deewane) with its signature dance-steps. And this certainly doesn't come as a surprise, given the fact that Karan Johar has roped in one Bollywood's most sought-after dance choreographers, Farah Khan, to call the shots!

Student of the Year is Karan Johar's first film without his lucky charm and close-friend Shah Rukh Khan. This will also be Karan's first film with newcomers and is set apart from his previous directorial ventures. A youth-centric film in essence, Karan Johar has worked with the dialogue, screenplay, cinematography and editing for Student of the Year. The director has also choreographed the song titled Ratta Maar for the film, in the absence of a choreographer on the day the video for the same was shot.

And that's not all. Farah Khan will also make a special appearance in Karan Johar's next! The director-choreographer will play the role of a dance competition judge in one of the songs. This music video will also feature Karan Johar's close friend and lucky mascot Kajol in a guest appearance.

As for his knowledge of Television shows and the like, Karan Johar credits his mother, who happens to be a huge fan of small-screen shows. "I will be lying if I say that I am a TV addict, but my mother is obsessed with Indian television and is very happy to see me as a part of these shows. She is a huge fan of Ram and Priya (of 'Bade Achche Lagte Hain'). But I have never been into TV," says Karan.

Catch Farah Khan and Kajol in the upcoming Student of the Year, scheduled to release on the 19th of October 2012. The film will have its leading trio play the roles of three pupils in an affluent school in Dehradun. This will be Karan Johar's fifth directorial venture after My Name Is Khan, Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham..., and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. The film is one of the most anticipated releases of the year and will also be produced by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions. As for Sidharth Malhotra, Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt, the trio will be making their first silver-screen appearance with Student of the Year.
