How To Easily Transfer Information From An SD Card To DVD

By Doris Rivas

If you have a camera, video camera or a cell phone, they all have Secure Digital cards that hold a variety of things such as videos, music, photos and other files that are of importance to you. These cards come in sizes 1 gigabyte up to 2 terabytes. These files more than likely will need to be transferred from your SD card to DVD because even though the cards are convenient often you want them on something more permanent.

You can transfer this information from your SD to DVD quite easily, even if this is your very first time doing this. It really is not all that difficult of a task to do. Just follow the easy instructions provided.

If this is something that is new to you and you are afraid you might do something wrong in the transfer process, do not worry, there really is no reason to be afraid of doing something wrong. It really is a very simple procedure and you will be able to transfer your files quickly and easily.

The first thing you are going to want to do is to take a DVD and put it in your computer in the slot that it needs to go in. Then next is to take the SD card and put it in the SD slot that you will find on your computer as well. If you don't have this kind of a slot in your computer you can use an external reader and attach that to your computer. However, most newer computers will have their own built in readers for you to use.

Go to the start up menu and click on Computer. You will find this at the bottom left hand corner of your monitor. Once you have done this click on the word Computer. This is found in your start up menu.

Once you have done this you will now need to make sure that you double click on the icon for SD cards. This will be found in the Devices With Removable Storage in order to see the files that are stored on your portable device.

After you have found the different files, you will want to pick the files you want to transfer. You do this by holding down on the control button as you click on the files you want to transfer over. This will highlight all the files on your list. Put your mouse on any one of the highlighted files and then right click on a file and a menu will pop up. From that menu, pick the word Copy and click on it.

Once you are done here, click on the Back button so you can get back to your Computer menu. Once back there just right click on the DVD icon for the DVD drive and then simply click on Paste from the pop up menu. Your computer then will do all the work by transferring all the files that you highlighted earlier. Burn the information from the SD card to DVD and you are done.
