The Beautiful Sound Of Vintage Guitars Phoenix Always Delight

By Alexandra Anderson

Centuries ago the lyre and basic box guitars used in Latin countries which are the forerunners of the modern guitar were the only stringed instruments played. Through the years they were modified and improved upon with some superb items of concert quality produced. About 80 years ago the electric guitar was introduced. Stringed instruments in this category have never been the same since. For each style of music written for this instrument there is a particular design. The purists at vintage guitars phoenix will insist that flamenco cannot be played on a mariachi stringed instrument and likewise for true rock 'n' roll a person would not use a country music style instrument.

Although they are all made along the same basic design with a body, neck and strings they differ. Mostly made from a variety of woods these instruments are now also made from polycarbonate materials. Strings can be made from animal gut, steel or nylon. The latter two have become more popular for modern instruments.

People wishing to play this instrument have the choice of an acoustic or electric guitar. In both categories there are a number of further differing styles. An acoustic styled instrument is the oldest type to be found in stringed sections and consists of a hollow body. The type of wood used in the making plays a large role in determining tone and pitch levels. These instruments are played by finger picking and because of their tonal qualities are often used to play classic solo music pieces.

In the 1930's electric instruments were introduced which relied on amplifiers to produce and control their sound and tone. Through the unexpected frenzied popularity of rock and the many spin off styles that followed electric instruments have experienced an evolution of unsurpassed proportions.

Many legends were born in that era and the particular make of instrument they chose to play on become an instant success. 80 years later these same instruments have become highly collectible. Their style is often copied by mass producing concerns and sold as replicas.

Vintage styled instruments are made using hardwoods that are well known for their intrinsic tonal properties. There are particular hardwoods that produce overall rich sounds that can be sustained at high level pitch. Certain woods are also preferred because of their beautiful colors and grain patterns which add to the individuality and beauty of a handmade instrument.

The finish is a personal choice. In some instances woods are left in their natural state or highly lacquered or oiled. Handmade pieces are beautiful and require skilled craftsman to ensure a top quality tonal pitch. Actual basics have changed little over the years but new concepts have perfected the sound excellence and projection.

At vintage guitars phoenix there is a selection of instruments that are collector's items. They are top quality and when played by aficionados their sound and tone levels are truly beautiful to listen to. Manufacturers offer a selection of mass produced guitars for beginners and amateur strummers who wish to learn to play. These basic and middle priced instruments are well made and produce strong tones and pitch. If one is looking to start a collection the instruments made through the 60's and 70's have good value although they may prove to be difficult to find.
