Understanding Why Creationism And Evolution Coexist In A Turbulent World

By Alexandra Anderson

When creationism and evolution coexist the foundation of the beginnings of life start to change. For some people, this could be a bad thing. For others, it opens up a new pathway of thought that sparks ideas. There is no reason why there might not be a way for the two sides of the debate to see the benefit in allowing the issue to rest.

The struggle of today regards what is being taught in the classrooms and what is not. Free thinking young people can come up with all kinds of new and improved ideas for just about everything. Those who are taught only one way is the right way grow up to be much more rigid in their creative process. Letting kids know even in the classroom that there are different beliefs and there is evidence to support each belief simply opens them up to new ideas and acceptance of the other's right to think on their own as well.

It is hard to explain to kids why people become so passionately adamant about their side of the issue. When you go at the argument with too much enthusiasm that amount of passion does not improve the odds of being heard. Generally speaking it has the opposite effect.

Scientific evidence does not always lead to complete answers, especially when you are digging around in the very distant past. What it does do is lead to theories and ideas that can actually enrich the search for truth. By entertaining thoughts and ideas that are vastly different from your own you can literally expand the capacity for new thought.

When you have greater capacity for new thought the process of deduction can be easier because you are no longer trying to prove one theory correct. When you are looking to explain what you already believe then you are going to see the evidence that supports that rather than the evidence that might point you in a different direction. This is where truth is often discovered.

You can, in fact, find evidence that would support highly rejected ideas if you are too invested in the outcome. It is possible to discover and present evidence that the origin of humanity is extraterrestrial in nature. Using science to support beliefs can be a dangerous thing because the power of belief is so strong it can skew the actual evidence. When dealing with this topic in particular one could argue that the power of belief is also based on the belief of God.

Not everyone who disagrees with one side or the other is denying the existence of God. There is room for interpretation, including the idea that God equipped all life with the ability to evolve so that an ever changing world would be well populated. The idea that humanity is a direct reflection of the image of God could still be true even with the theories of evolution intact.

If creationism and evolution coexist then all different thoughts can be explored with broader minds and more attention to the details that evidence points to. The varying ideas that are brought together when opposition no longer exists can be mind blowing. Peace is found in respecting another's right to believe differently than you without being a threat to you.
